THE CHANGES WE BELIEVE ARE REQUIRED TO CURRENT PENSION LAW
  • A proportional presence of pensioners on Boards of Trustees
  • A clear definition of who can benefit from the ownership of pension fund surpluses
  • A defined standard of the actuarial valuation of pension fund assets and liabilities
  • Pensions to be indexed to the national average of wages rather than to the RPI
  • All pension funds having over 25 members must promote, encourage and assist in the establishment of a pensioners' association, which its trustees must recognize

MEANS TO ACHIEVE OBJECTIVES

  • Bring as much influence as possible to bear on legislators in order to make needed changes, some of which are set out above
  • Maintain close contact with each member association through national and regional meetings, through regular newsletters and through correspondence
  • Assist pensioners' associations to update themselves with developments in the law and with statutory and other bodies
  • Continue the development of regional forums for the exchange of ideas between representatives of member associations.
  • Publicise Pensioner Problems through press contacts.
