THE
CHANGES WE BELIEVE ARE REQUIRED TO CURRENT PENSION LAW
- A proportional
presence of pensioners on Boards of Trustees
- A clear
definition of who can benefit from the ownership of pension fund surpluses
- A defined
standard of the actuarial valuation of pension fund assets and liabilities
- Pensions
to be indexed to the national average of wages rather than to the
RPI
- All
pension funds having over 25 members must promote, encourage and assist
in the establishment of a pensioners' association, which its trustees
must recognize
MEANS
TO ACHIEVE OBJECTIVES
- Bring
as much influence as possible to bear on legislators in order to make
needed changes, some of which are set out above
- Maintain
close contact with each member association through national and regional
meetings, through regular newsletters and through correspondence
- Assist
pensioners' associations to update themselves with developments in
the law and with statutory and other bodies
- Continue
the development of regional forums for the exchange of ideas between
representatives of member associations.
- Publicise
Pensioner Problems through press contacts.
